Recently had a chance to visit the Monroeville Mall and the Living Dead museum. If you are unfamiliar, the Monroeville Mall is where George Romero filmed the classic Dawn of the Dead. While there, we took some pictures of JC Penny, the hallway and the entrance. Much of the mall has changed, so a lot of it didn’t look like it did with all the zombies in 1978.
There is a bust of George Romero and it talks about his life and impact of films, especially the horror genre.
Then there is a great museum called the Living Dead museum. Lots of props used in the films and history of zombies in movies. All aspects of George Romero’s life and films is looked at along with some other iconic films like Evil Dead.
And of course, you can get a t-shirt.
All in all – it’s worth a visit to the Monroeville Mall and the Living Dead museum if you’re a horror fan and really if you’re a Romero zombie fan. And recently, Wal-mart bought the entire mall, so get there before it disappears.
