Welcome to our first side dish – a quick talk about a great public domain horror movie. In fact, this one is the first recognized horror movie – House of the Devil from Georges Méliès. While it’s short – 3 minutes – its fascinating to see this put together and be a horror movie (loosely defined).

  • Big Man Japan – Appetizer Movie Review

A Japanese horror movie about a giant superhero kaiju superhero. Of course, he’s fighting giant monsters – silly monsters, but giant. it has some funny moments. If you like Japanese culture, this one will fit the bill nicely.

  • Season 05 Episode 09 – Victor Crowley

Overview We don’t do a lot of sequels on the Horror Lasagna podcast. Sequels tend to not fit the mold for us telling you about the best horror movies you haven’t seen. In our Director Rehash though, we made an exception for Victor Crowley. The Hatchet series is worth the inclusion though. We both loved…

  • Side Dish 04 – Vampyr

Overview With all the talk about the new Nosferatu remake, it made sense for the horror dudes to take a look at another classic vampire film – Vampyr. There is a lot to like with this black and white film – even the vampire hater, Rhys, got something out of it. How does it compare…

  • Monkey Appetizer Review

I’ve read the short story before and enjoyed it. Then Stephen King himself said this was a great movie. I went to see it. I think it started off as a serious horror movie, but somewhere along the line, Osgood took a little something something while watching a Tim Burton movie – and went so…

  • Heart Eyes Appetizer Review

This is a fun movie. It’s a slasher, which aren’t my favorites, but it’s fun. They do it tongue in cheek. Since it was focused on Valentine’s Day, it takes the best rom-com tropes and mashes them with the best slasher horror tropes and come up with something that works. I’d watch it again and…

  • Presence

This is billed as a haunted house movie. I don’t want to give anything away, but this is one of my favorite movies of the last several years. The POV is interesting and follows a family around a house. Many long shots. It’s not a regular spooky story, but is a great build up.

  • I, Frankenstein – Horror Lasagna Appetizer review

This is not the typical horror movie we watch at Horror Lasagna. But because its a Frankenstein movie and is told as a sequel to the book, it falls under horror. It’s not scary or horrific – it’s more of a blockbuster action flick. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, just doesn’t make it rank high…

  • Season 05 Episode 09 – The Devil’s Candy

Overview Should you ignore those whisperings you hear? You’re just imagining them, right? They don’t mean anything. Are you creative? Do you play guitar? Or paint? If you answered yes to any of the above, we have the house for you! A great family home with an outbuilding that can be used as an art…

  • Monroeville Mall and Living Dead Museum

Recently had a chance to visit the Monroeville Mall and the Living Dead museum. If you are unfamiliar, the Monroeville Mall is where George Romero filmed the classic Dawn of the Dead. While there, we took some pictures of JC Penny, the hallway and the entrance. Much of the mall has changed, so a lot…
