I’m not much of a slasher movie fan. And when it comes to Christmas horror, there are a lot of slasher movies. A whole lot.
Much attention is placed on Black Christmas because it was one of the first. While Christmas Evil was later (even after Friday the 13th), I would argue it’s a better slasher movie.
In it we get to see how the loss of innocence as a child can affect someone negatively for their entire lives. We watch a man devolve while dealing with the consequences of something traumatizing in his youth. Arguably, is it the worse trauma any kid has face? Absolutely not. But for him, obviously it was a big deal. It’s clear he has some mental problem beyond what he saw – but who can say what causes someone to snap?
While I wouldn’t say this is one of my favorites, it’s worth a spot on the Christmas horror to watch shelf.
